Amputation Injuries
Traumatic
amputation is the accidental severing of some or all of a bodypart. There
are an estimated 3 million amputee victims in the country with more
than 150,000 new amputees each year. Traumatic amputations are most
often the result of automobile or motorcycle accidents, farm or workplace
accidents, and the misuse of lawnmowers, saws and power tools.
Most
on-the-job amputation accidents are a result of inadequate machinery
guards, improper repairs, improper equipment training and crowded work
conditions.
Along
with being a life-changing tragedy, amputations pose many risks associated
with medical side effects including:
- Poor wound
cover and healing
- Chronic Neuroma
(pain and/or tenderness in the amputation area)
- Stiffness
- Infection
- Sympathetic
Dystrophy Syndrome
We
will go to the hospital to meet with the clients and not only to discuss
the facts of the accident but we will also help our clients to receive
the proper and necessary treatment, important to their recovery. At
times the hospital itself or the insurance company will not provide
adequate care that is needed. We will be there on your behalf to insure
that they do provide the care that is needed.
